Nocturne in B-flat Major

Sheet music for the Nocturne in B-flat Major by Maria Szymanowska. One of the earliest piano virtuosos of the the Romantic period, Szymanowska's style left notable impressions on a later Polish composer, Frederic Chopin. This ambitious composition in 12/8 follows the early Romantic style of character pieces at the dawn of the 19th Century. A disjunct opening melody soars over widely-spaced left hand arpeggios. The subdivision of the beats into 16th notes leads to grandiose passages making full use of the piano's range. For advanced students, 6 PDF pages.
