Can you teach the song “Hearts Beat Loud” from the movie “Hearts Beat Loud”?

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll add it to our list of requested songs for future lessons.

I’m sorry if I’m going too fast. If you want to slow the video down, you can always change the settings on the YouTube player. Just click on the gear symbol on the bottom of the video, then go up to click where it says “speed” and you’ll be able to choose from several different options. If you don’t see the gear symbol, try watching the video on our YouTube Channel and it should let you change the settings. I hope that helps!

Hi! Are you asking why we’re using both the left hand and the right hand when we sight read, or why you get to pick what note to start on for this sight reading exercise? Those are both good questions. It’s important to train both of your hands, no matter what piano skill you’re developing. And you don’t absolutely have to pick a different note than in the lesson when you practice sight reading. It’s just that since we’re using a one line staff it doesn’t matter what note you start on. I hope that helps. Let me know if I didn’t answer your question.

What if your hands move to a different position in the notes???? Then can we look down??????

It’s ok to glance down once in a while, especially if you’re doing finger power exercises or memorizing a piece of music, but whenever you practice sight reading, you should try to avoid looking at your hands. To learn more about when it’s ok to watch your hands, you can check out our blog post, Can I Look at My Hands?. I hope that helps!

I bought them, but one day we hope to create our own paper finger puppets for students to use at home!

We actually got most of the finger puppets from IKEA, although many of them have now been discontinued.
