Hungarian Dance No. 5 (Intermediate Version)
An intermediate-level piano arrangement of this popular folk-style piece by Johannes Brahms. 4 PDF pages.
Product Description
Sheet music for the Hungarian Dance No. 5, WoO 1 by Johannes Brahms. This is perhaps the best-known of a set of 21 dances inspired by Hungarian folk music. Brahms composed them as piano duets, later arranging several for piano solo, and even orchestrated three of them. They achieved immediate financial and popular success for Brahms, and may even have influenced American composer Scott Joplin's development of ragtime music. Dance No. 5's melody was actually written by Hungarian composer Béla Kéler, which Brahms mistook for a folk song at the time. This intermediate version gives students a heel-kicking staccato left hand beneath a wild, lyrical, minor-key melody. Arranged by Aron Bernstein, 4 PDF pages.
