Follow the Drinkin' Gourd (Early Advanced Version)

Sheet music for Follow the Drinkin' Gourd, an African-American folk song that evokes the guiding of fugitive slaves to freedom. First published in 1928, the song mentions the Big Dipper constellation, whose shape points the way to the North Star. In this version, the melody is supported by a shuffling left hand ostinato. A good practice for handling syncopations in swing rhythm. Early advanced arrangement by Aron Bernstein. 2 PDF pages.
